PhD Programme in Economics, EUI Florence

Προωθώ μήνυμα από τη Διεύθυνση Εκπαίδευσης και Έρευνας

Dear Colleague,

We would like to take this opportunity to inform you about the PhD Programme in Economics at the European University Institute (EUI) in Florence. We would be grateful if you could bring this information to the attention of talented students at your Institution or forward it to your contacts who might be interested.

The EUI programme offers excellent opportunities for talented young economists. PhD candidates are offered extensive training - both in terms of courses and in terms of guidance for their research. They attend a full sequence of PhD courses in macroeconomics, microeconomics and econometrics, and a wide selection of advanced optional courses. Candidates are closely supervised by experienced senior
faculty members throughout the programme.

All students admitted to the programme are awarded full financial support. A special grant programme funded by the EUI itself has been set up to finance a limited number of successful non-European candidates who have applied for admission, but who are not eligible under the traditional grant programmes. Furthermore, non-European candidates may be admitted also in case they can guarantee external sponsorship.
Career prospects are excellent as well: many of our alumni are now prominent academics or working in prestigious positions at leading international institutions. In the last five years our students have been placed at institutions such as the University of Oxford, the University of Cambridge, the London School of Economics,  Universitat Pompeu Fabra, the Paris School of Economics, Bocconi University, Stockholm University, Cornell University, New York University, the University of Houston, the University of California Davis, Universität Mannheim, Universität Bonn, DIW Berlin, the European Commission, the European Central Bank, the Bank of Canada, the Bank of England, the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank.

The Department of Economics at the EUI provides a lively, stimulating and hard-working environment for research. There are weekly seminars in all main fields and a large number of high profile short-term and long-term visitors and post-doctoral fellows. PhD candidates have the opportunity to attend many EUI conferences and guest-speaker events.

All information about the Department, the PhD programme and application procedures can be found on our web page.

Note that students should apply online before 31 January 2016.

Yours Sincerely,

Prof. Árpád Ábrahám
